Aizaz Sarfraz

Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Sarfraz previous to this assignment was the MD/CEO of NBP Capital Ltd., a Non Banking Finance Company and a wholly owned subsidiary of National Bank of Pakistan. Mr. Sarfraz has also previously served on the Board of the National Bank of Pakistan.

Mr. Sarfraz brings with him:

  • Extensive exposure, spanning decades including banking services sector, trade and industry, both in Pakistan and overseas.
  • Extensive exposure to Public and Private Sectors in Pakistan.
  • Experience of working with multi nationals, foreign and large Pakistani groups, in North America, Europe, the Middle East, South Asia and the Far East.

His experience includes working with Bank of America, both in Pakistan and Europe, and National Commercial Bank of Saudi Arabia in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Mr. Sarfraz is an MBA from Columbia University, New York with a major in Finance and a Minor in International Trade.

Zulfiqar Alam, ACA

Chief Financial Officer & Company Secretary

Mr. Alam joined PIJICL as CFO & Company Secretary in August 2009. Mr. Alam’s areas of expertise include business valuations, acquisitions, due diligence, corporate structuring, financial modeling and taxation and he has hands-on experience in management, business leadership and financial reporting.

Prior to PIJICL, Mr. Alam worked with Alpha Beta Capital Markets (Alpha Beta), a corporate brokerage house, as CFO. Mr. Alam established the Private Equity Desk in Alpha Beta and originated deals worth in excess of US$ 25.0 million in FMCG, Power, and Retail sectors.

Before Alpha Beta, Mr. Alam was associated with Pakistan’s First Technology Venture Capital Company “TMT Ventures Limited” as CFO. His key areas of focus in TMT were financial, strategic, and management due diligence, forming investment thesis and presenting it to the Investment Committee; fund management and handling communications with investors. He was also instrumental in Joint Venture arrangements with SEAF, a US based Private Equity Firm. Concurrently, he acted as sell-side advisor for two technology companies and one LPG distribution company.

Before joining TMT Ventures he was working as Manager with Husain Rahman, Chartered Accountants, an associate firm of Deloitte & Touche (D&T) in Pakistan where Mr. Alam managed various financial advisory, due diligence, audit and assurance assignments. Mr. Alam was part of the global team of D&T for financial review of AEG Pakistan on behalf of the GEC Alstom group for acquisition. He supervised the compliance review of Mashreq Bank plc with Basel Core Principles for banking supervision. Mr. Alam was seconded to Deloitte & Touche, Middle East where he was responsible for the audit of some leading multinational companies. He served Dammam and Riyadh offices.

Mr. Alam is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan.

Ahmad Bilal Darr

Head of Treasury

Mr. Darr is Masters in Business Administration with Majors in Finance from Quaid‐e‐Azam University, Islamabad. He has over 14 years of working experience in Pakistan’s Financial Sector comprising 11 years specifically in Treasury and Corporate Finance. Prior to joining PIJICL, Mr. Darr was associated with an Investment Bank.

Jahangeer Jamil

Head of Equities

Mr. Jahangeer is Masters in Business Administration with Majors in Finance from Southeastern University, Karachi campus. He has over 10 years of working experience in Pakistan’s Financial Sector specifically in capital and money markets. Prior to joining PIJICL, Mr. Jahangeer was associated with a brokerage house as portfolio adviser, head of equity sales and trend analyst.

Sajjad Akhtar - ACMA

Project Manager, Risk Management Unit

Mr. Akhtar is involved in developing the Risk Management Unit since April, 2008. The Risk Management framework is being developed in a manner whereas modern approaches will be used which should not only make PIJICL an SBP-compliant organization but will also utilize the framework for strategic decision making so as to gain competitive advantages in a cost effective manner.

He is an Associate Member of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan and did his CA Articles with Delliote & Touche (KMHR) Chartered Accountants. He has over 10 years of working experience in banking and financial consulting sectors. Prior to joining PIJICL, Mr. Akhtar was working with a Micro-Finance Bank as Manager Financial Risk. Mr. Akhtar joined PIJCIL in October, 2007 as In charge Finance & Accounts.

Syed Adnan Raza

Head of Internal Audit

Syed Adnan Raza is Certified Internal Auditor from the Institute of Internal Auditors -USA and CA-Finalist from Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan. In 1991 after completion of Bachelors in Commerce from University of Karachi he joined Ernst and Young; Chartered Accountants. He brings with him 17 years diversified audit experience in manufacturing, services and banking concerns. He also attended various courses and seminars related to banking, accounting and audit. His last assignment was at a reputable commercial bank of Pakistan as Senior Manager Audit. At PIJICL his primary responsibility is to develop and implement an independent audit function designed to add value and improve the Company’s operations. His assignments also include examining and evaluating whether the PIJICL’s frame work of risk management, control, and governance processes, are adequate and functioning properly.

Zeeshan Khalid

Dy. Head Information Technology

Mr. Khalid is Masters in Computer Sciences from Al-Khair University, Karachi and Masters in Business Administration with majors in MIS from Preston University, Karachi. He has over 10 years of working experience in the field of Information Technology with automotive and non-banking financial sector. His exposure comprises of overall IT infrastructure deployment, procurement, LAN / WAN implementations, network and data security, study and analysis of business application software and designing of policies and procedures related to Information Technology department. Prior to joining PIJICL, Mr. Khalid was associated with a Non-Banking Financial Institution.
